How Chanterelles and Oaks are being affected by climate change

Oak trees are very well adapted to our climate in the west coast, but they also are fairly adaptable, so they are not directly threatened by climate change at the moment.

However, Oak trees, and therefore California Chanterelles, are threatened by invasive species, in the form of Eucalyptus trees. These trees take over places where oak trees would natively grow, and their bark stops oaks from being able to plant acorns.

Specifically regarding climate change (not its effects), Chanterelles will actually do better, because of their need for warm summers. They will be able to do better as the climate gets hotter.
